Default 2006 mustang gt top speed

Does anyone know the top speed of a stock 2006 mustang gt. It must be 140 because thats the highest number on the odometer.

Trust me, the odometer goes higher than that, with proper maintenance.

As for top speed, are we talking about governed top speed or beyond that? Is the car in question a manual or automatic? Coupe or convertible?

The top speed of a stock '05-'09 GT is 151mph with a manual tranny and 148 with an automatic.

All GT models were limited to 143MPH from the factory, but the automatic coupe could reach an estimated 154MPH without the governor, according to Automobile-Catalog.

^^^What he said. I think it was officially 145, but tire size and stuff changes it slightly, hit it at 142-143 on a runway with the Whipple/Ford racing tune, yes they keep the stock speed limiter even with a supercharger.

Sure. Use a synthetic oil and filter that are rated for one year. I use Royal Purple oil and filter.

High 140's to low 150's (ungoverned) sounds about right, depending on things like actual gearing, tire revs/mile at that speed, and the actual torque curve. 154 sounds a tad optimistic to me but might be possible with everything optimized (including aerodynamics within the range of what a car could have come in at as OE).

FWIW, I would not expect the 4.6L's power curve to flatten out between 5000 and 6000 rpm like the curve Automobile-Catalog apparently used does ( http://www.automobile-catalog.com/cu...automatic.html ).

The stock HP curve does actually flatten out from 5200-6000rpm, and the top speeds (148 & 151) I quoted earlier are ungoverned on stock tires.
