Default Automatic Shifter Cracking

My friends 2007 V6 automatic shifter handle is cracking at the top. I haven't looked at it yet, but she said it's plastic. The only way to replace it is to replace the whole shifter and she can't justify doing that when there is nothing mechanically wrong with it. I thought maybe a heat gun could possibly melt it back together? What do you guys think?

If you try melting it back together it may make it look worse.
My sliding dust shield fell apart and I ended up buying a TCI shifter.
I sold my old shifter handle and satin trim piece to a guy on this forum.
You can always try the heat gun and if that doesn't work then
try finding a used one. Either online or at a junk yard.

He replaced the handle and trim only.

You can always try to see if someone here that installed a TCI or replaced the sifter assembly due to failure of the mechanical bits will sell you the part or, try to find a junk yard that one available.

She said so far she has had no luck finding one in a junk yard. The piece keeps cutting her hand. I wonder if the heat gun doesn't work maybe try making some kind of leather strap to go over it. She said she is tempted to just putting some duck tape on it but knows it will look ghetto.

How about filling the gap with 2 part epoxy?

She sent one to my phone but for some reason I cannot send it to my email address. I've notice people with Apple phones or who have Verizon does that. I have a Samsung and I use Sprint. I did ask her to send it to my email address.
