sure there are, they just can't start cranking out parts overnight. it would take 12-18 months for them to design, build, test, qualify, and start building replacements.

Finally got the replacement done on my 2005 GT yesterday (Wednesday 6/15/2016). Next up is my 2010 BMW 335i. Will see when I get the official call. Guessing maybe late this year or early 2017? Who knows, but I'm not worried.

They will not go off unless you hit something. And the chances of a newer than 4 yr propellant canister coming apart is slim to none. It has to be exposed to humidity for a while for it to corrode enough to compromise the canisters integrity.

I got my letter in the mail a couple of weeks ago that parts were available to fix my driver side. They're going to replace the entire airbag instead of just the faulty inflator.

Haven't taken it in yet, but they are fixing them based on risk. Those with older year models and who live in a high humidity environment are the highest on the list. Both of those apply in my situation (2008 in Houston, TX with high humidity 99% of the time).

Who knows how long it'll take for a passenger side fix to come along though since they still haven't finished with the driver side.

wife contacted local Ford dealership (not sure which one but in northern Houston, Texas) and then told her no parts to replace the airbag and to check in with them next week.
