Default Rear Sway Bar Link Is Loose

I've been hearing a clunking sound for a while now, I just figured it was something in the trunk that was moving around. I finally got the trunk emptied and the clunk as still there.
It would happen over bumps.

The Ford dealership said it is the rear sway bar link lower bushing. They also want about 338.00 for just the parts. The labor is likely more.

Anyone know of a cheaper place to get these and is replacing them hard to do? Is it something a relative layman could do?

Thanks for any info,

M

It's very simple. Just bolts that come out. Order it from summit racing.

They've replaced thousands of these under warranty. The GD part is $16 a piece. Go to Tousley/White Bear Ford and buy them online.

Better still, buy a $25 Energy Suspension bushing kit, burn out the rubber and replace it poly.

If that sounds hard, there are tons of aftermarket end links out there, including stuff from Ford Racing. any or all of them are more durable and reliable than stock.

Run from that dealer. Go to a reliable and honest mechanic. What a bunch of crooks.

You can get an entire aftermarket rear sway bar kit for that price.
