Hey Guys, Hope all is well. I just purchased a 2006 Ford Mustang GT with a Shelby Kit. My first Mustang so I'm seriously amped. Car is definitely in great shape inside and out, but noticed a few problems after the purchase.

1. Gassing it up is a pain in the a**. Takes forever as I just keep getting "click click click" of the pump due to some sort of issue or design of the tank? Takes about 20min to fill her up.
2. The air conditioner: Only works on high (setting 4). All the other settings (1,2,3) nothing comes out. I changed the cabin air intake filter thinking maybe it was clogged (it was a mess), but that still didn't help.
3. The mirrors don't move when trying to use the electric adjuster. I have to manipulate them by hand which is a little annoying.

I would like to upgrade the air intake with K&N or something similar as well as any other things you guys can recommend for upgrading performance. I want to keep it close to stock as possible.

For the gas issue, flip the pump handle upside down and that should take care of it.

It sounds like you may have a blown fuse for the mirrors - don't have my '06 any longer so no access to the owners manual.

If the cabin air filter was all mucked up, maybe some of that got in the fan and is holding it up? IIRC you can get to it from under the passenger side dash.

As to mods, as the wise man once said..."Speed costs money. How fast would you like to pay?" All sorts of mods are possible from here.

I've had mixed luck at gas stations. I can fill up quickly at most of them without any problem but I'll occasionally come across one where the valve keeps shutting off and filling up seemingly takes forever. Even tried turning the nozzle upside down but to no avail. I blame that on the saddle-like design of the tank.

Maybe one of the blend doors in the HVAC matrix is stuck. If so, it's a big PITA to fix.

Could indeed be something as simple as a blown fuse, but that's probably too good to be true.

I agree the fueling cutting off varies from station to station.

If you find a station that works better use it all the time.

Usually if I fill up at a Sam's Club or BP, all I do is turn the gas pump handle 45° to the left and don't pump at full speed. Works every time for me.

Welcome to the forum. Another note - I moved to Florida and my 06 started throwing a check engine light, the error indicated something about the fuel system. Turns out, I need to be wary of putting too much fuel in my car. I usually do what 07 Stang says, just don't go full blast and when it shuts off, do not keep filling. I was filling mine up almost to the top of the neck, just to put another mile or two on my tank fills.... but this was throwing a check engine light. Once I figured out that was the problem, I just don't fill it fast, and when the pump shuts off - I stop.

JLT intake and a custom tune would be a good way to wake the car up a bit. Definitely a worthwhile addition to your new S197.

I'm in New Bern with an '05 GT since new. Back in the day it was a known issue to have a problem introducing petrol to the '05's and I reckon the next couple of years. I notice a fellow says here he puts his nozzle at 45 degrees to the left. I've been holding the nozzle at about the 1300 > 1400 Hrs. position for years without a problem at any fuel stations. I think I'll attempt to remember the "45 degree" trick.

I'm not sure off hand if I run the nozzle full bore or not, probably not. I always reset my "gallons used" or have an idea how much I need to fill. So, I listen to the fuel as it fills and when I hear it near the top I back off the flow rate. FWIW

Incidentally, over the years I've heard one thing or another on the "Gallons Used" gauge On mine I've always been tickled about how close the gauge and the amount I put into the tank are, usually within one or two tenths of a gallon of each other.
