Default Engine died

Hello all, new to the form so please forgive me if I mess up. I have an 07 Mustang and and the engine(v6) recently died while I was driving it. It threw a p0171 code a day before. As I was driving it there was a loud chattering noise everytime I hit the acceleration coming from the passenger side, I also lost power and then a few minutes later it died . There was no indication of any kind of smoke coming from the tailpipe. When I popped the hood smoke came out from the right side of the engine( smelled like burning oil). Engine will turn over but it doesn't sound like any compressions coming from it. There does not appear to be any coolant in the engine oil Did I blow a head gasket intake manifold gasket or did I royally screw the engine?

Well that code is for running lean. So with the loud clattering, apparently no compression, and burning oil smell my guess is that you have popped a piston.

Do you have a tune on the car or is it stock?

Stock V6. If I popped a piston then wouldn't it still at least try to start up?

When it turns over can you hear any sounds like air? Open the oil filler and see if you get some huffing from there as it turns over. You may have a hole burned in a piston from running lean.

Cannot hear any air when it tries to turn over. Will have to check the oil filler tube when I get some free time tomorrow. I hope I didn't burn a hole in a piston God knows how much that's going to cost to fix. I'll try to post back tomorrow thanks for your help

It is cheaper to just get another 4.0 from a wreck than it is to repair a 4.0

Lot of cars use that 4.0.

Explorer, Mariner, etc. their easy to find at junk yard.
