Default Recommendations on next mustang

Hi everyone, first post on this site. I'll give you a little background on my situation. I currently have a 1985 Mustang GT. I love the car but it's starting to develop some rust issues that I don't want to start throwing money at to fix. So hopefully this spring I will be selling it which means I'll be looking for another Mustang. I'm kind of over the fox body after owning one for 4+ years. I want something that has creature comforts, power windows, locks, keyless, etc. Also something that I can get in and go anywhere in. So after doing lots of research I've narrowed it down to two choices. Either an 05-10 3v GT, or an 11+ v6. In my area they are both about the same price. I like the body style and interior better on the 11+ but don't know if I would like going from a V8 to a V6. From my research they both can be modded relatively easy and both max out at about 450 safe WHP if I decided to go forced induction. I would love a coyote but looking to stay around 13k so I can pay cash for something. I don't want to get into having a car payment. I really hope this doesn't turn into a pissing match between the 3.7 and 4.6 guys but just wondering what you guys would do? Thanks!

After owning 3 Fox bodies, a 1980, 1981 and a 1986. All bought 'new', a S197 will be a 'big' upgrade for you. I have a 2011 v6 that runs low 13's in the 1/4 mile but I'll be adding a Procharger supercharger soon, if everything works out in my future A 2005-2010 Mustang GT would be a good choice even if it was for just the sound. Nothing sounds better than the 3 valve, in my opinion . The new 2011 and up 5.0 sound like crap to me but so does my 3.7 V6 . Ford is dropping the 3.7 V6 soon and shortly after dropping the 5.0 and replacing it with a 4.9L (something like that) V8 Like I said before, any of the S197's will be a great upgrade from your Fox body. Good luck

I must add: Most of the 2011-2014 v6 Mustangs came with a 2.73 rear end gear which was for Ford to advertise, "over 300 horsepower and over 30 miles per gallon". Most of the v6 Mustangs had this gear. I ordered my v6 Mustang with the optional 3.31 rear gears. This still wasn't enough for me so I changed my gears to 3.73's and very happy with them.

Always go with the newest model you can afford.

I own a 2005 and a 2014 and the improvements are well worth it.

The 2014 is a much nicer vehicle. Interior noise is way better, ride quality, gas mileage, braking, handling, on and on. I have a backup camera, remote start...

The 2005-09's are the best looking. Not that I'm biased or anything.....

I'm just so torn lol. I've driven a 3v before and was able to get on it, definitely liked it. I've driven a 3.7 but the salesman thought I was out for a joyride and only had me drive through the auto mall loop so I wasn't able to really tell how I felt about it and get to open it up. The car will go to the track every so often in the summer time and will be "beat" on every once in awhile on the street. I think both of them have pretty bulletproof drivetrains though. I'd honestly be content with a low 13/ high 12 second car that I can daily drive in the warmer months.

You won't get an unbiased opinion from me either.

I think test driving the two will help a lot. See if another dealer has a sixxer you like and will actually let you take it out for a drive.

You know the people with the 4.6 will vote for the 4.6 and the people with the 3.7 will vote for the 3.7.

I would be buying what 'I' wanted, if I were you
