RE: 2005 Mustang GT Dead Battery
Bmr4life I agree with you.... The Optima (and Orbital) batteries use a different technology then 99.9% of the batteries sold. They are superior to the O.E. battery. I should have clarified and said a standard "flooded" lead-acid battery. (But... if you do some research about who makes the Mustang O.E. battery and the Optima battery.......)

Take a look at this. http://www.tekbattery.com/Matt_Hotch.html Watch the video with Matt Hotch and the Harley. They make these batteries for just about any size vehicle.... for a price!

You can add mine to the list. Great car but this battery problem is the pitts.I have the Shaker 500, 6-cd changer system and the OEM, BXT-40R Battery. Have just started to troublshoot the problem. Had car only 5 months now and the dead battery syndrome just started 2 weeks ago. Looking for a Rx.

RE: 2005 Mustang GT Dead Battery
When I came back from school, my battery was dead... or so we thought. We jumped it, and drove it to the dealer to see if they could give us any advice. Apparently if the car isn't driven for a long time, it will not want to start for some reason. Its kind of hard to explain, but I haven't had any problems since I started driving it. I am expecting that problem to come up again next summer.
I guess I'll have my dad take it out for a spin every once in awhile.

from what i have been reading from here an other sites ,as well as service bullits. no silver bullit to kill this monster F . up yet. seems that the alternator will not charge the battery unless you drive the car for over a hour. i don't know about ele. enginging ,so i'm not going to put higher out put alt. in , and start blowing things just to charge the battery deep. but i was thinking of going to a marine deep cell battery with a low charge indicator on it. Ford knows about this issue and will do something about it , just not any time soon. maybe in time for the 09-10 redo. Ford replacing the shaker took care of one draw. TSB is out on it. but the alternator will not deep charge the battery on short round abouts so if you have other aftermarket demands could be in the same boat .

I too have had this problem on my 06 and the battery goes dead flat after 3 - 5 days of standing when I plug in the charger for an hour everything is fine! I took the battery to be tested and it appeared OK. I now have a conditioning charger connected to the car and this week the charger cannot keep it fully charged as something is drawing the power. I took the car to a Mustang specialist here in the UK and said it was the active theft on the alarm that was responsible for draining the battery so I am going to get a battery cut off switch installed for when I leave the car for long periods.

In 14 months of ownership I've had a dead battery only once. I bought a battery charger, charged the battery to 100% and have not had any issues since. I must say that the first time, I had let the radio on. I have been away from my stang for three weeks on more than 4 occasions. To date, no dead battery.

After reading the manual I have locked the car with the key on the drivers door (which I believe does not activate the active theft system) and the charger is showing a constant green light (fully charged) if I lock the car using the key fob the charger light remains orange (still charging). So maybe I have something wrong with the active theft system.
I have experimented with the radio on and off but it does ot seem to affect the charger at all

Best new!
I have a dealer that located a power drain connect to if CDs are loaded in radio and powered off or if no CDs in radio and powered off .02vs 1.4 amps He has ordered a new radio but it sits on 3 month backorder.
I quized the tech real well since I know how random this power draw down is.
I haven't felt this good since the first time I smoked the tires.

so.. no CD's in the shaker draws more power? weird but possible i suppose.. any of you guys experiencing the power drain notice it happens if you took your CDs out? (personally i constantly have all cd slots used constantly)
