I think the car has grown on me tremendously and I feel it is a great car. Ford made a mistake by not painting everything once again in body color but that is an easy fix and I would love the new GT500 and would buy one in a sec if I had the cash!....carry on
Sir, carrying on SIR!!

So, we're trashing the 010 because lots of us don't like the new look?!?!
What was your first clue?
I don't think I'm as clueless as you think. I'm just wondering what those of you that don't like the new look were expecting? I read a lot of complaints about the rear end but, I don't think it looks bad. I agree that certain parts of the car should have been painted body color but, since Ford did the rocker panels in black to give the car a lowered look (according to various car mags), not doing the rear valance in black would have given it a weird look.
I've read a lot of criticism about the 2010 design but, what would those of you that don't like it at all have done for 2010? Ford couldn't have gotten too wild as I've read that there's suppose to be an all new Mustang in 2012 (possibly as a 2013?).
I think that the usual reasons for cladding along the bottom of the body is done to reduce the visual image of height or hide mechanical underbody bits rather than create an appearance of being lowered. It's hard to make a car look like it's been lowered when there's still a substantial gap above the wheels (no matter what else you do).
Well, the 010 has the legendary raised body line from the end of the door and I like that the best on the new style (retro curves).
As far as what I've would have done on the 010...I'd kept the round headlight up front and make the front end pointier like the 69/70 cars.
At the back, I'd used the look of the 05 Concept car, with tail lights going across the rear.
That alone, would have score points with a broader crowd.
Agreed. The new rear has been growing on me, and I know with some minor cosmetic touches it'll look fine........but some long lamp styled tail lights like those on the 04 GTR Mustang would have been absolute killer.

The Fox Body guys didnt like the 1987 freshening... the SN95 guys didnt like the 1999 freshening and the S197 guys are having issues with the 2010... so whats new.
For the record the 2010 Steeda Sport looks really good, the Roush 427R looks pretty good and the GT500 looks killer. The only thing that looks a little blah is the standard Ford produced Mustang GT but we all know thats just the raw material not the finished product.
So the question is.... 2009 GT500 for $4000 Off MSRP or wait for the 5.0 Coyote.... Hmmmm......
It is very hard for anyone to take an extraordinary perfect design like the 2005 through 2009 Mustang GT and change it so it looks better without messing up some part of it. BMW had the same problem with the 2002 Seven Series.

As an '05 GT premium owner I found that when you make statements such as the one you made above it is best to start with "In my opinion" because not everyone..myself included feels the 2005 thru 2009 was an extraodinary perfect design. By just making your blanket statement somone one will..in a negative way..try to defend the 2010 design from the comment. In fact...on the '05 - '09 I thought the rear was the bland part of the whole car. I love the new design and I am in fact awaiting my order... IN MY OPINION the new body has more character....
There are things I like and dislike about both designs.... but I like more about the 2010 style personally that was the motivater for me to buy a new one.
