Yea, the 2005-09's didn't exactly have much pop to them in stock form either. But with just a couple of simple modifications and some nice rims, they could be some really sexy beasts. It will be no different with the 2010's. I love my 05, but I also applaud Ford for the work and improvements they've made with the 2010. I think they made the right moves in moving the design forward. That's my opinion, anyways.

Yep... you'll always see backlash from current gen ownwers when a new style starts coming out.

I have been hanging around the Miata world for a while and you saw this when the 1999 "NB" Miata came out and again when the 2006 "NC" came out.

While I love the 2005 Style Mustang GT (I just bought my 2009 a month and a half ago) I like the 2010 a bit better...but the the differences and improvements didn't offset the great deal that I got on my 2009.

My next car will probably be a Coyote powered Mustang (if what I read is true) but in the mean time, I'm happy with the original S197 style.

Compairing the 05-09 to to the 2010 is like compairing apples to oranges. The 05-09 was a "retro design" inspired car where as the 2010 has nothing retro about it. It's a completely new design breaking into new ground. Those who like the 1967-69 looks of the Mustang are going to like the 05-09 more since that is what ford based its retro design off of for those years. Those who are looking for the next best thing are going to lead towards the 2010. Both cars have their good and bad points but compairing the two to each other is just wrong.....

I love the 2010, so much that I just ordered one!

I wouldn't go quite that far. The hips, quarter window, tribar taillaights, and side "hockey stick" character line are all very much retro. The '10 is based on th 05-09, so it is by no means a "completely new design". It's a more modern update of the retro S197.

I like the new interior, love the front end and hood, like the rear end with the exception of the black plastic around the bottom. I looked at the wheel options and you can't get the old school looking 18" chrome wheels. They have some polished ones with several spokes, I have the nice ones on my 08' and you can't get them on the 10'.

A good argument can be made that the 2010 Mustang is even MORE retro than the '05 design. I don't know how you can think that the 2010 is a completely new ground-breaking design. If anything, it looks like more like a "freshened" 2005 Mustang, not an all-new design. But if you compare the 2010 to some of the older Mustangs, you'll see a few things that they have in common that were absent on the 2005 Mustang. Yes, the "hips" are one big styling element that the 2010 has in common with older Stangs, but have you noticed the shape of the fenders where they transition to the hood area? That angle is instantly recognizable in the classic Mustangs. So to say the 2010 is not a retro design is just wrong, in my opinion.

+1. The only things I like better on ours are the design of auto shifter, the rear end, and the headlights. Ours are more of a retro, the new 2010 style is a retro like ours but with things added to compete with the competitions looks and in the case of the 2011+ there preformance as well. I think the challenger and camero are more at blame for the new looks than anything else. It isnt a coincidence that the restyling comes around when these other cars are coming out...

Default It an evolutionary design.

The 2010 is an evolutionary design change but, it's not like Ford is saying "We screwed up with the previous version, here! we fixed it!"
By making changes, the newer car doesn't detract from the previous style. There's competition out there, Ford knows they're gunning for the Mustang so, they have to make it a moving target. Maybe they can't get it right for everyone but, I'll bet there's a lot more cheering than booing for the new styling?
I think some of those people that are booing need to go and take a test drive in a new GT and then come back and tell us how awful it is. (without lying)

I still think the rear end is an afterthought, but I'm still very close to ordering a '10 GT500.
