I'm happy for the mustang, but the 0-140 numbers are depressing.

I'd still like to see Ford bump up the HP with a 5.0 How many of us have already added mods to increase our HP, the aftermarket is going to catch up quick on both the Mopar and the Chevy. I'm sure there's a lot of untapped power in both of those engines. Just my opinion, but I'm very happy to see all three companies offering cars that get the heart beating quicker!
I see what your saying but again in my opinion handling is king anyone can be fast on a the highway but throw some turns and you usually knock out alot of people. thats the the one reason i respect vettes and alot of import cars. Dont get me wrong i like tourque and hp but ithink there should be a healthy balance of both. I think that is the key to a good car is balance

I am disturbed by how heavy the new Challenger is... I'd still rather have a 1970 Hemi model, but good luck finding one of those

... bad comparison with the Challenger R/T. They should have used the Challenger STR8. Either way, put a few more ponies in the Mustang (ahem, perhaps that 5.0 engine Ford) and we will have a MONSTER! We all know it is a better car, which is why we are on this forum.
that would have put the cars in a different price range all together so the R/t is the right comparison for this test now an srt8 vs a gt500 thatsgeting a little better for the scenario you are talking about.

tell that to C&D since they feel the need to post 0-140mph times for the muscle cars.

I don't know of many tracks that have cars running from a dead stop to 140mph unless they're super modded on a drag strip.

I have to completely agree with you on every one of your comments BMR4Life.

But I have to admit I was surprised to see the story outcome, but I am pleasantly surprised.

It's a horsepower vs weight race.

Now if only they could make the GT500 weigh 3600lbs....

I can't wait for that 5.0 DOHC motor either....

The Old cars were "pony cars" which just means Compact Coupes.

The Challenger is huge, borderline Full Size coupe. Too big.
