Makes complete sense to me. I definitely think its a toss up between the Camaro and the Mustang.
Mustang handles awesome, has better visibility.
Camaro has a sh*t load of power. Enough to make up for its lacking in others.

Pretty close between the Mustang and Camaro. Each has their strengths and weaknesses. It would depend on how much weight is given to these qualities in the final decision (both by the magazines and by the potential buyer).
Most people will read the different articles and form their opinion based on the quality or qualities that are most important to them.
If someone loves the looks of one over the other, the difference in horsepower probably isn't going to change their mind. Particularly, when the final numbers are very close anyway.
I figure that someone can leave either of these two cars in my driveway and I wouldn't complain at all. Then again, I wouldn't complain if someone left a Challenger RT in my driveway either.
Yellow Camaro, Grabber Blue Mustang, Orange Challenger. (looks around for the elusive magic lamp).

Motortrend said they would take the V6 Camaro over any of them, same suspension as the SS but not all the weight and brakes that hang with the track pack mustang as well as 304hp, PLUS $27,000 sticker. If the Camaro does it for you it is the deal to be had!
Myself I am going to order a new 'stang, hell you only live once...

Though I am partial to the V8 sound, I would probably be more tempted to get the V6 Camaro for reasons you mentioned.

Sounds like a good plan. Good luck with your future toy!
When push comes to shove, I'd more likely go for a Mustang GT over the Camaro V6. Unless price really becomes a strong consideration. Or unless that Camaro in yellow begins to talk to me.

Let's not forget that besides a bit of a weight advantage the track pack Stang comes with a 3.73 rear end whereas the Camaro comes with a 3.45 rear end...gearing can make all the difference in the world...

Don't forget the gears in the transmission in addition to the final drive ratio.

Thanks for that. I didn't know gearing the Camaro was using. Also can't forgot that it has a 6 speed trans so it can probably afford to go all the way down to a 4.10 without any problems. Well 1st could possibly become useless.
