Yep, your steering would stay silky smooth while your transmission had a stroke and your factory computer settings robbed you of 30% of your power. You 5th gen guys have all the luck.

I was at the ford dealer having some work done on my 02, I heard the service advisor talking to a guy about the same issue. Service advisor said it was the tires and that the Pirelli's that they put on it at the factory have vibration issues.
Since most of us aren't having this problem.....what's your point? I'll take a shake in steering that a new set of tires under warranty will cover than a busted tranny from a crappy manufacturer

I have had this from time to time on the highway about 70-75 mph. But not everytime,
but when it has happened, it was the same stretch of highway. 1300 miles on a 2010
with the 18" Pirrelli Zero's. Other highways, same speed, no shake yet.
Is the steering wheel shake the new ugly rear end obsession or what?

I test drove two 2010 GT's today, one auto, one 6 speed. Both had the optional 19" wheels and both had a very noticeable steering wheel shake at 60-65MPH and above. The wheel would dance about 3 degrees right to left, etc. Drove straight but shook like they were out of balance.
Anyone else notice this and what has been done, if anything to resolve it.
Thanks in advance.
I drove a 5 spd GT today with 19" wheels, NO SHAKE, NO VIBRATION, RAN GREAT to my top speed of about 85MPH. I've heard that there may have been a bad run of Pirelli tires so the first two I drove may have been problematic. Also, the track pack cars will be at the dealerships within 2-3 weeks. Drive safe.
No issues with mine either. Could be the road finish, especially if you notice the shake in the same area all the time. I'm amazed at how different the feel is between my Explorer and my Mustang. You really feel the road in the Mustang (including every pothole, bump, and poor excuse for a mill-and-fill).
Also, no TSBs on this, from what I see right now.

I never heard of tires that needed to be broken in! Is that a remnant of the old bias-ply school of thought?
There is a break-in period for new tires. You should drive in a "normal" street fashion for about 500 miles if you are conservative. Some people say 100 miles is sufficient. Break-in generally does not cure shake or vibration if these problems are quite noticeable when the tires are brand new.
Tires are manufactured in molds, and there is lubricant that you don't see or feel on the surface of the tires. But it's there. This lubricant is used so that the tires do not stick to the molds.
Further, tires are made of various components. It takes a bit of driving to get the components working together so that the tires perform better than when they had 0 miles on them. It's really not a big deal, which is why it isn't mentioned very often.
