Odd how my dealership told me that Ford confirmed with them that the 4.6 liter will be returning in next year's GT model.

Well, regardless of if it is a coyote 5.0 or EcoBoost....maybe this guy I talked to didn't know his $hit. But he 100% confirmed that the 2011's will have 100 HP more than the current 2010's. He said it's basically a 2010 engine with a supercharger thrown in.

Bottom line, regardless of engine type, the 2011 will be pumping 400 + HP.

Your dealer is an idiot.

But yes, they will have 100 more hp, in the form of the 5.0 coyote... NOT ecoboost. (That comes later....maybe)

Not to mention, why would a dealer be telling you about a car that comes out in a couple of years? Makes no sense that they'd want to shoot themselves in the foot by not selling a car NOW vs in 2 years.

That dealer is a fool. Nothing is confirmed.

The only thing confirmed is that the 3.7L N/A will be in the V6 for 2011

As a salesman in a past life I can tell you its doubtful to get "new" information from a dealer.
1. Dealers don't typicaly get information before other sourses.. they aren't owned by Ford or Chevy or Chrysler(fiat), the just sell the cars.
2. They have to sell the cars that they have for as much money as they can get. Don't complain about this, it's called capitalism. Why would they put out that next years model is way better? All that does is totally devalue what they currently have their investment in.
3. You may get a sales guy that *thinks* he knows something inside and will share with you anyway, his sources are typicaly the same as yours.

So I don't doubt the information as much as I doubt the source. Ford has said in the next few years every model will have an ecoboost (to include a 4 cyl ecoboost being worked on for the F series of all things). That information was pulled from the Ford.. but I'm being a bad analyst and I don't remember the exact site.

Frantz it right. Being a salesman at a dealership right now, I did every bit of research I could before ordered my 2010 to find out if there will be an engine change in the 2011 and came up empty handed. NOTHING is confirmed and your salesman is a jack off. As for the EcoBoost. On Friday our dealership got our first 2010 Taurus SHO with a 365hp EcoBoost in it. I was a little disappointed. The car is beautiful, on interior and exterior design Ford really hit a home run with these, but the car felt very "smothered" when I drove it. Feels like it would have been a lot more power if you opened up the exhaust and intake on it, but thats probably ford trying to keep these cars quiet for the "golden market" of older buyers this car will attract. Plus sticker is +45K. Seems like a lot for a Taurus. It has paddle shifters on the steering wheel which is a huge ++ because they are awesome. But first impressions of the EcoBoost, not so impressive

I'm sure EcoBoost in the Taurus is lame. Like you said, they made it a real quiet and smooth car. I watched the Motorweek TV show and they said the same thing about it. I'm sure the EcoBoost has potential, but it will take the aftermarket to get it out.
