Default What the 2010 Styling Says to Me Versus Other Gens

So as a new / to be Mustang enthusiast, after looking at all the gens recently, to me they say "Hi, I'm a muscle car, I have biceps and have rolled up my sleeves to make sure you see"

The O Ten says "Hi, I'm a performance car, I'll flex my muscles when I need to"

More understated, more "inwardly confident"

Agree? Disagree? Or you think I'm on drugs?

I'm going to vote the drug thing, not that it's a bad thing, if thats what you're into.

I think it's a cryin' shame how Ford took the styling of the '05's thru '09's and screwed up the '10. I don't care for the rear bumper and tailights and the front bumper. And whats with that black chit on both ends??? Unless you're car is black, it looks cheap. The '05's thru '09's make a bigger and more muscular statement. But then, I'm just biased because I have an '07 and it looks a lot more like the original Mustangs.

To my eye (and a number of reviewers' eyes) the styling cues on the 2010 incorporate more of the details from the 1967-1969 versions.

The angles of the front bumper and much-maligned tail mimic the early era, as do the reduction in size on the fogs.

The haunch over the rear wheels is also a characteristic of the early Mustangs, and is noticeably absent on the 05-09 versions.

Here's a '67:

From Lewis Mustangs:
Quote:
The new 2010 model is a better replica of the 1969 Mustang. The grill includes four lights, two of which are fog lights and the rear fender lines are the exact lines from the 1969 version. Both ends of the sheet metal are beveled with a bulging hood. This car looks far more masculine but smaller than today’s Mustang. This vehicle looks quite a bit cleaner and more coherent.

Funny how this is so common with current S197 owners.

i could never trade mine in for a 2010, although I do think by painting all the unpained plastic it looks better. i am digging the 2010 sms car though aka the real saleen. if something were to happen to mine I'd look for a used roush stage 3.

I love my '10 and my '68 equally. Ok, probably a little more love for my '68 from all the blood sweat and tears I have in it. The styling cues between cars is amazing.

Awesome cars there!

Seeing the cars side by side really does show the styling rationale for O Ten

I see no styling "flaws" in either the current or previous generation ... it's just that after a careful beer induced analysis, I prefer the O Ten

To me the 10's look like they're trying to be something they aren't. between all the raw black plastic, the short front end and the almost euro looking rear it looks like it's trying to be a much smaller more subdued car, something a muscle car and the Mustang isn't.

But i'm not saying I don't like the looks of the 10, I just prefer much prefer the 05-09's.
