My stick was 29,795 and I paid 27,900 and also had them give me 3,100 over KBB on my trade value I had 12,900 to pay on my truck and they gave me 16,000. I bought mine back on June 27th.

Good luck on that, salesmen get a lot of "Joe Bob down the street said I could have his for 1000 dollars cheaper and it's the same car." If you have something concrete, ex. buyers order, invoice, write up/worksheet of some kind from another dealership, then that will get you somewhere. Sticker on mine was 38500, invoice was about 35500, there will be less markup in one marked 33,500. (Of course my d-plan was 34341)
I don't think that anyone involved in serious negotiations honestly expects either party to accept the first offer laid out on the table. I'm fully aware of what sticker price is on this car. NADA.com lets you build your car and tells you the sticker and msrp (which is within $200 of the sticker on this car). But, we all know that any decent sized dealership isn't paying the listed invoice price and that the Ford bonus cash isn't really their money anyways.

End of August I got my 2010 GT Premium w/comfort, 5sp, 19" luster wheels, Kona blue. I paid invoice less $2,000 customer cash & $750 private customer cash so $2,750 under invoice. And that was on a car they had to locate from another dealer...the only Kona blue equipped as I wanted within 150 miles. I always deal from Invoice, I don't care at all what the sticker on the car says. If the Dealer won't show me the invoice for the car I walk away. I willing to allow him a fair profit if he's willing to start out honest up front and show me the invoice. I do not ever pay more than 200 above invoice before any rebates...but the dealer that gives me my price earns my customer loyalty and my many referrals.

I wanted the security system but they couldn't locate a Kona with that also unless it had other options I didn't want. I'm having the security system installed Monday at about the same price that it would have cost as an option from the factory.

I think I got a very good deal.

It sounds like you got a great deal. How did you pull that off, hold them at gunpoint?

Guys, understand...the ONLY way you can successfully negotiate is if you are willing to walk away if its not right.

Easy to say...difficult to do.

So...be willing to walk away...anyone buying a mustang right now should be getting a GREAT deal....if you are not...walk away.

No gun point...but a retired Trooper and oldest son is now a Police Officer in town !

I've been buying pickups and cars from the same sales manager/delaership for several years now. Additionally, I've referred a few other friends and business contacts to him for their pickup and commercial vehicle needs. He takes care of me and my referrals and his dealership continues to get our business. AND he is well aware that I do my research and shop around even though I know him. SO if he doesn't give me the best deal he can, he'll lose all the business I bring him. So far no other dealer has beat him even though a few times they've come very close.

ALSO, DO NOT forget to ask the sales manager to try and work a better finance rate from their banks. I walked in with a preapproved check from a major player bank via the internet and the manager made a phone call to his bank contact, told them the rate I was getting, that I was a premium customer and they beat it to get my business. Having looked around I know the rate I was getting via the internet was great already and the rate I got from the local bank is incredible.

I agree completely, walk away if you don't get a great deal right now. Cars in general are not selling well and Mustangs are hanging around a many dealerships.
One of the main reasons I decided to buy a new Stang now was that it is such a strong buyers market. I really didn't need a new car yet, my '03 4Runner only had 55,000 on it, but after a very eye openning illness this past winter I decided I had waited far too long to get back into a "fun" car.

If the dealer you go to won't give you a great deal walk out and go straight down the road to the next Ford dealer...they are far to close together to not be willing to compete for your business.

+1 I've had to do this a few times. Either way you win but paying more than you want will leave you pissed for the next 5 years of payments.
