Default New Mustang Price Negotiations

As of Monday my old stang will be sold and I will begin serious searching and negotiations for my new 2010 Mustang GT. I found a Grabber Blue with no options but the Track Pack (perfect eh?) but before I go in and start negotiations on the price I am curious how much you guys paid vs what the sticker was.

Sticker on the car in question is $33,500 (which is right on par with NADA MSRP). I don't intend to pay that much but I want to have some realistic expectations. I know that the 2010's aren't exactly flying off the lot right now since I drive past a Ford dealership on my way home and the exact same Mustangs have been there for months. If you aren't comfortable talking numbers then percentages should do nicely.

I'm also taking into account that there aren't that great of incentives going on right now ($1000 cash back and 2.9% for 60 months). IMO this in conjunction with slow sales should give me a bit more bargaining power.

Thanks in advance for your feedback!

When I bought mine they discounted the car $2,900 and then there was the $1,00 rebate and the $500 military rebate for a total of $4,400 off sticker and I special ordered it.

Napoleon85:

If you want ask the dealer how much you would get off with an X-Plan discount and if its a lot more than what you can get just by buying it outright with the incentives then let me know and email me as I can get you an X-Plan discount

In general, 15% is a rule of thumb so, yes, a total of $4,500ish off sticker

Every time I've bought a car, I've simply told each of 2 or 3 dealers I AM buying a car today, but I need your best price, because I'm competitively bidding dealer against dealer

That cuts through a lot of BS quick

Then when the price is pared down, go to the dealer you want to buy it from, see if they can match price or if not, maybe throw in a option, or free loaner car when you need service

I've always got more than 15% off, and had dealers within a couple hundred dollars of each other

Good luck

Don't go in expecting them to take 4500 dollars off. Markup isnt that much on these, closer to 3 grand. Now if you meant 4500 including rebates thats probably buying it at invoice price. Good luck on that, salesmen get a lot of "Joe Bob down the street said I could have his for 1000 dollars cheaper and it's the same car." If you have something concrete, ex. buyers order, invoice, write up/worksheet of some kind from another dealership, then that will get you somewhere. Sticker on mine was 38500, invoice was about 35500, there will be less markup in one marked 33,500. (Of course my d-plan was 34341)

I'm looking to buy a V6 Premium Coupe, what should I expect to pay with an X-Plan discount? Can you stack the new grad discount and the $750 private cash offer with X-Plan?

I've been looking for months for one with the nav system locally, but nobody seems to have one Has anyone had one installed at the dealer? How much extra is it besides whats listed on Ford website?

Seriously? You can install factory nav aftermarket? Like with ford parts? $2800 seems pretty cheap.

To be honest I wouldn't rely on adding nav at the dealer. I say get it from the factory or don't get it at all. That's just my opinion.

i never get nav with cars. in two to three years it looks so outdated. So many things can nav and be portable now that i dont think its worth it. I mean my phone does the same thing. non nav cars stand the test of time in my opinion.
