Maybe Ford was thinking that you would remove it and have a pan for baking a personal pan pizza.

Those are fugly. Looks like something you'd find on a 60s lowrider.
why dosent someone make a rear cover that covers the HOLE back there, as in solid all the way across. then just fill in the emblem holes with epoxy so water can't get in.....WHY!

I'm was thinking of blanking it out completly (i.e., just remove the whole thing.)
But the cost to fill in the holes (I believe there are 2) and have it professionally paint matched and clear coated would be prohibitive (albeit they are only 2 tiny little holes) compared to just finding a nicer size/looking emblem.
