Default Inexpensive horsepower upgrades?

Just got my '10 GT. Love it!
Looking to do inexpensive HP gain ie, cold air intake. Any help would be appreciated.

Try searching the forum. Tons of info.

If you're not going FI, then the CAI & tune combo is the biggest bang for the buck. A standalone CAI won't do much. Next would be cams and perhaps LT headers. Those together provide nice gains. Plus, there's always nitrous.

After that, it's nickel and dime stuff: UDP's, delete plates, aluminum DS, weight loss.

Stay away from aftermarket TB's (stock TB flows well) and TB spacers (useless). Also, any exhaust mods beyond the H-pipe will yield sound improvement only; NO HP gains.

As you increase RWHP your stock tires aren't going to cut it. You'll also want to consider some wider wheels and better tires plus some suspension upgrades.

But if you afford the cash, definately go FI.

Default Fuel

The 2010 owner's manual says the car will run fine on 87 octane, but it runs best on 91 octane...you might get the most HP by trying the 91.

You only get a 10 torque boost from the higher octane unless you have a tune.

I'm not sure what you're definition of "inexpensive" is (this is $100 to some, $3000 to others) but bang-for-buck you should probably check out the CAI/Tune combo from Bamachips. $700 for a C&L CAI and 3 tunes is probably about as good as you can get. There is also a writeup somewhere on how to install the Roush Exhaust which is stupid easy to do before everything gets rusted down below.

These engines benefit better than the '05 thru '09's from higher octane but they still cannot take full advantage of the higher octane without a tune.

Gears haven't been mentioned yet. They do not add horsepower, but they make better use of the power at-hand. If you want to be cheap, start removing weight from the car. It also won't increase HP, but your power-to-weight ratio will improve.

CAI and tunes are only getting 14whp and 14wtq and the most of that is the CAI making the power. Even some of the tuners are saying there is little left on the table for tuning compared to the 05-09.
Steeda UDP's claim 10whp and the Steeda CMDP claim about 4whp

That's about 29whp for alittle over $1000

I'm considering going that route and getting back on the dyno to see how close the claims from a few manufacturers and magazines are.
