Sorry, I get my OWN panties in an uproar when it comes to the warranty "discussion". Again, my apologies. I just hate how dealers have intimidated the uninformed and those that don't like confrontation. Many dealerships really don't give a rats azz if you have a CAI installed when you bring it in for a wheel bearing, A/C, power window, CD changer, etc, etc.. I have them write on the work order "DO NOT REFLASH THE PCM" before I leave the car out of my sight. Never been a problem with the dealer.

Most of our mods are truly minor in nature and can be done in the driveway. Our cars are just that; cars. There's always the possibility of f'ing things up but that's how you learn. It can be made right. And it's much more satisfying when you've done it yourself.

Absolutely no apologies necessary; I just wish I could be more like you and jump on the mod-bandwagon.

But like you said, when I went to the dealer (actually 2 different dealers for varying opinions) about an upgrade -- they stopped my statements in mid-sentence when I brought up the word "warranty".

Pissed me to all hell, too.

The crappy economy notwithstanding, I guess they're really watching their azz'es when it comes to warranty work, and don't want to touch anything that's been fiddled with by some John Q. Public consumer.

I'm the hands on type too -- wish that I could do all the work myself, have my own hydraulic lift, a computer scanner to read all the factory codes, and so on. But some things in life just aren't possible for me at the moment.

What really grinds my gears is having to rely so heavily on cars, and not know how to fully repair them when things go awry. And this goes back to all my vehicles; not just my current one. Also this applies not just to cars, but anything I rely upon in life that I don't have complete technical control over.

At first I wanted to SC my ride... now... Why would I put $3k down on a car, spend $7k-$8k on a supercharger, and be left on my own if the thing blows up?

Why not take that exact same $10k-$11k out of pocket and put it down on a GT-500 that is covered under warranty, and guaranteed to appreciate in value? After that big of a down payment, your monthly payments would be that of a GT.
