I have a GT 5 speed with 3.73 gears and recently noticed that when there is acceleration in second gear in any RPM (and sometimes even fourth) there seems to be lower-pitched rattle coming from beneath the frontish-center of the car. It's not that loud, but it's enough to notice with the radio off and that it's not heard in gears 1, 3 and 5 when accelerating. Does anybody know what could be causing it or if its normal?

Odd, but before I took delivery of my car, my salesman called me and informed me they noticed my car making strange noises in 2nd gear. The mechanic noticed it when he was test driving after installing my Roushcharger. Never did figure out the issue because they took great care of me and simply replaced the transmission altogether.

I have the same problem. 2nd gear whine. It did it since new. I figured I would wait to see if it got worse. Take it in when warranty is almost up. I wouldn't be surprised to see a TSB about this in the future, since now I know I am not the only one.

I just noticed a kinda low pitched rattle this weekend... Not necessarily only in 2nd, but I can't say for sure. Seemed like it was coming from the middle to front underside of the car. It almost sounded somewhat like exhaust noise, but I dunno. I'll try to pay attention to the gears when I hear it next.

heck i have the t5 and i have 2nd gear whine/rattle/noise......I guess I'll have it checked out.....
anyone else have trouble getting inot reverse sometimes?
I have noticed a noise in second gear as well. I just got mine 10/15 and I noticed it the day I picked it up. Mine seems more like a knock though from the engine under moderate (upper 2/3rds) acceleration. It is specific to second gear though.
I do seem to be the only one who hears it though. Passengers say they don't hear it.
