Default What is the best solution for Axle Hop?

So I am seeing three different fixes.

I see that some live by replacing the Upper Control Arm.

Still others say you only need to do the Lower Control Arm.

Then you have even others that say you have to do both.

In another thread, I read the following solutions:

1. The Roush UCA.

2. The Steeda UCA and LCA.

3. The UMI position changed LCA.

And on the American Muscle store website they sell J&M lowers and uppers. If you read the information on them, they both say the reduce axle hop.

Which of these really works, or if they all work, which works best?

Which is best for limiting axle hop?

Which is best for maintaining ride quality?

Which is best for keepling NVH (Noise, Virbration) Low?

Which is best for keeping stock handling?

Since the lowers are far easier to change than the upper, is that the place to start and does it work?

Who has done any of these? Input and opinions - But please include real informaiton.

Thanks!

Well I am planning to buy Lowers and Uppers from BMR for my 2010.

When I had my fox body, I did the lowers, and that took care of any wheel hop I had. The stock stamped steel pieces are just not good enough, too much flex.

If the lowers cured your older Mustang, why go right to uppers and lowers on the new one? What reason?

I am replacing the upper due to its still weak light gauge stamped steel, I am already going to be under the car replacing the lowers. The upper to my understanding maintains pinion angle and prevents axle counter-rotation. For less than $200 it can't hurt.
I dont have any real proof that its better to do one or the other, and only had my old car as an example. In my experience the lowers made a difference. Hopefully someone who has done this with their 05+ can chime in.

Every car is a bit different, but a great starting point is any good LCA including BMR, Steeda, CHE, UMI, etc. as the key benefit is the stiffer Poly bushings. LCA brackets can definitely help as your LCA angle can get out of whack if lowered (meaning the front mount gets lower than the rear).

Although the Roush arms are stiffer, they use the same OEM bushing that comes stock on our cars. I found this out after buying a set and quickly sold them... then upgraded to Steeda billets.

Do some searches as this topic gets revisited very frequently, so there is plenty of info to be found on the topic.

Totally agree with Doogie. A good set up BMR LCA's is probably all you will need. I really like the CHE stuff but they quit making LCA's. Their anti-squats are really nice pieces. Everyone I know runs this setup with great results. The UCA is really hard to install and probably unnecessary IMO.

Thanks for the information on this. I ordered the J&M LCAs with the extreme joint. It seems like the extreme joint on the axle end makes sense to me. I will report once I get the car and get them installed.
