Default First problem with my 2010 GT...more of an annoyance

After 2 months of ownership and 3500 miles of driving, I've got my first issue. It's not really a problem, more of an annoyance.

I hear a slight metallic rattling sound coming from the under the dash on the drivers side, I can't seem to pinpoint where it's coming from, except from that general area. I thought at first it might have been a loose speaker in the door, but with the radio off, the noise is still there. Then I thought it might have been a loose heat shield or something of that nature. Had a look when I was under the car changing the oil. Nothing loose there.

And then I got to thinking about it. Maybe it's the intake noise recirculation thingy. Seems like a logical guess as any.

Any thoughts?

Try pressing on the speedometer. I had a rattle develop and when I pressed on the speedometer glass (plastic) it stopped. I took it to the dealer and one of the mounts was broken behind the dash. They had to replace the entire instrument panel. Problem fixed.

You need to talk to ford, there is a recall on our cars for sound coming from door panel, due to some foam needed added to resolve, google it,

I think he stated it was from under the dash not te door panel.

I had the issue with the speaker buzzing and it was obvious it was from the door. It was a quick fix and the issue has not returned for those who have it.

I'm pretty sure its not coming from the speaker. I swear it sounds like its coming from that stupid intake recirc tube, or near where my left foot rests when I'm not on the clutch.

It's one of those things that I don't care about it, but I kinda do care about it. It just annoys me.

I imagine the TSB for such an issue like this would read as follows:

"Customer complains of slight rattling noise. Tech recommends customer turns volume on radio up so metallic rattling noise isn't heard anymore."

In another related thread, I posted a picture I took of it. It is, as you stated, inside the passenger cabin, just to the left of the clutch. It's hard to see unless you really get under there w/a flashlight or some good lighting.

Anyway, here it is:

Maybe this will help you locate your source of rattling... FYI.

Yep, that has to be where the noise is coming from.

Guess I'll just stuff a sock in the damn thing for now to make it shutup.
