Default Need Help - Removing Factory Hood Scoop - Then Reinstall

For those with the factory hood scoop (or other hood scoops)...... After installing mine over the stripes it seems that it's not sticking correctly at the corners. There are gaps at each of the four corners. There are 4 bolts that hold it down in the middle.

I'm betting the surface wasn't prepped correctly which is why the double sided tape is coming up now.

I unbolted all the screws and tried pulling it off. It seems that other than the four corners where there's a gap, the rest of it is sticking really good, which is why I can't just pull it off.

What's the best way to get this thing off?

Heat gun? Would that screw up the paint?

Thanks!

Do you have pictures? Have you by chance compared it to one on a dealer's lot? I remember looking at those scoops on the lot and thinking the same thing about the corners. Looked like the gap was too large.

I don't have any right now, but will take a few when I get home. It's definitely too large a gap to be normal. It's actually pulling up the vinyl a little. My plan is to take the hood scoop off, cut of the edges of the stripes (where the scoops touches), prep the area properly, then reapply the double sided tape, then put it back on. I'm pretty sure the underside wasn't prepped properly (with an adhesive promoter), which is why the tape didn't hold. The middle is fine because the bolts are holding it down.

I was thinking if I get the scoop, I may dish out some extra cash and have the seam where it bolts to the hood filled in and painted if possible. I love the scoop and the looks it gives the car are killer, but that seam bugs me. btw love your car man dig the strips
