Default Gauge Swap!!

Hey guys, I found out a little bit of info I wanted to swap my deluxe gauges for the premium gauges, and recently found out through the test mode on the odomoter and it is collecting info such as battery, oil and speed. And much more into my pcm! Does that mean the premium gauge cluster would plug right in and not require another wiring harness? Any help or thoughts on this?

Other have made the changes on the 05-09 with no problems at all. If everything stayed the same you should have no problem either. It will need to be programmed by the dealer so you will have that expense. You will need the new gauges, and the buttons that go on the dash to control it. All the connectors used to be already in the dash in the previous body.

Thanks man! I just wish that I knew what to look for to make sure the connectors are all there in the dash before I go ahead and do the swap! Any info guys on what they look like?

Did you already call a local Ford dealership to see how much they want for the gauge cluster and new headlight switch (for info/select/reset buttons)?

I have been in talks with a few dealers everyone always looks at me like im speaking spanish, well maybe french since spanish is everywhere HA! Anyway its like 320 for gauges and 70 for switchs. I just want to make sure everything is going to work, since I wont be able to return my cluster if it does because they have to download my info on it b4 sent?!? Sound right?

Pop out your current light switch and make certain the extra connectors are back there. Aside from that I don't know if you have to make any changes to the SJB, but I haven't heard of any. Maybe 157DB can help you there. All I have read about on the 05-09 is switching the cluster and getting the switch, that's it. The dealer does the programming to the new cluster.

I dont see anything behind my light switch, but could the wires be placed differently on the 10 GT's since the wires where in the center dash for the 05-09 and the switchs are in a completely diff location next to the head light switch?

What Im saying is could it be longer wire or something? but yet still in the center of the dash?

Nope. Look at any 2010 interior shots and you will see that the dash control buttons got moved over to become part of the light switch. They are no longer in the center stack. If they are not in the loom of the light switch then I guess Ford changed their practice on that. The threads that the other guys made for the 05-09 indicated that the switches were prewired and left dead behind the console just waiting to add the switch.
