Why is there still a need for the cold air? to ensure there is enough air? seems slightly redundant to me haha.

Edit- Are there any benefits from the shaker or is it just for aesthetic purposes? Can any water get in through there?

It's got drains for the water ... it does have a tube to push outside air into the airbox .. but it's pretty much just for looks ....
