Who's removing the 5.0 side badge on their 2011?

Ever heard the term sandbagging? I agree though, outside betting at the strip I can't imagine making your car look less powerful.

I think thats significant but just for accuracy of information. Its not 97. A 10 GT is rated for 87 octane but has adaptive timing.
If you run 93 octane the 2010 is 325hp and 335ft/lbs tq. So..its 87hp not 97. (this is pretty common knowledge).
I think the fact that the 5.0 makes higher HP/TQ numbers across its ENTIRE RPM range is really the more significant feature in feel/perforamance than the extra 87 peek HP.
Still...(I just mentioned this elsewhere)...get the 3.73s if you want to see anything NEAR the performance in the reviews (all were tested with 3.73s)..if you get the 3.31s your going to be running neck and neck with the 10GT track pack mustangs.
For comparision sake...i had a 10GT with the standard 3.31s that NEVER got better than 5.5 in the 0-60 runs..even though i foolishly was lead to believe it was a 5 second car...GEARING is everything.

a 2010 GT with 3.73's will NOT be "neck and neck" with a 2.73 2011 gt even.
Given both drivers are equal, there is still an 87-97hp difference....it would be like a 98 GT manual(2011 GT) with 2.xx Gear racing a 99 v6 auto(2010 GT) with 3.27's.
the 3.27 is a better gear, but the v6 auto just doesn't make the torque or the hp that the v8 makes and it doesn't get transferred to the ground as well as the v8 either bc the v6 has an automatic tranny.
do you see what i'm saying here?
now for the people that are going to get me on technicality then I will go ahead and point out that the original "race" was between two v8's....and my comparison/reference was a v8 and a v6.....if you're stuck on this than you missed the point I was trying to get across about gear and hp....when you have undeniably higher hp and tq in a car with similar weight, even with "not-so-great" gearing.....you are still going to beat a car with "nearly" 100 fewer hp that has better gear.....as long as one isn't running 5.12's lol ...then it would be pretty close LOL haha...
sorry for the long read lol

For those that aren't a fan of the new 5.0 badge, I agree. Not because of what it says, it just seems be the wrong font or something... a little too bubbly.

IIRC......the 2011's will come from the factory with 2.73's with an optional 3.73 gear package that comes with the brembo perf. pkg.

STOCK: 2010 GT 0-60 times (these i know personally as i have driven them all)
3.73 = 4.9 to 5.2
3.55 = 5.1 to 5.4
3.31 = 5.3 to 5.6
STOCK: 2011 GT 0-60 times (these are estimates but mind you im VERY GOOD AT THIS..almost always right on the money).
3.73 = 4.3 to 4.6
3.55 = 4.5 to 4.8
3.31 = 4.7 to 5.0 (this is what i refer to as "neck and neck")
2.73s = 5.0 to 5.3
Check the Camaro5 board..they are ALL LAUGHING as some 2011 GTs are turning in 5+ second times...although they say NOTHING about gearing..i tried to correct them and let them know they are looking at the highway geared versions and they WILL NOT HEAR IT...they claim it MUST be the 3.73s if they are being tested...THEY ARE WRONG.
Likewise you ARE WRONG.. frankly i would not bother buying a 5.0 if i didnt have AT LEAST a 3.55 or better...(whats the point?) Dont take offense at me saying you are wrong..if you look at the same gear ratios from one year to another...your arguments are pefectly in line with the performance improvements of 87hp (all the 2010s tested were with premium gas so its 87, not 97)..but with only 55ft/lbs tq increase from the 4.6 to the 5.0...these numbers will prove to be correct, i just about gaurantee it.

I am going to have to disagree with you. Maybe this should be the topic of a new and seperate thread.

Props to you for having info
But wouldn't the newer GT have it past 70 ish....all that hp and longer gearing should have the older GT's beat past there ....Right?
Sorry for offtopic ....

And I think the Pony Emblems look better than both of them. The Pony emblem is the signature mustang emblem, the others are just two letters and two numbers. I'm not hating or anything. I know several GT guys that put the pony logos on the sides but kept the GT on the rear decklid panel.

See for me I love the GT sides. The 5.0 letters as stated before look bubbly and awkward on the side. It would have been cool if they would have done it in a different font. But I think the GT on the sides helps play on the aggressive look of the car.

I agree that they made the 5.0 a little to rounded out looking. But im not a huge fan of the fender emblems all together. I dont feel like dropping all the bills required to have the holes filled, so I will be blacking out mine when I get some time.
