Exactly. "Stitch welded" (as opposed to other kinds of welds) after the round mound was cut out. I'm not a welder, so that was the term they used to describe how they welded in into place.

It wasn't easy (they said) because the metal there is quite thin. Plus the slope of the metal needed to match the slight concave shape of the decklid "perfectly" for it to really work/look right after.

Cost = ~ $400 when all said and done (including the Tribar emblem -- which I did myself by shaping it via a heat gun. It was originally for a convex shaped fender ('05-'09 models)).

Love the results, but would I do it again? Yeah, I suppose. But I do like the round faux cap (I now have it mounted on a piece of varnished wood, hanging on my wall. )

I really like what you did with your rear decklid.

I'm not sure, but unlike the OP, I kind of like the fuel filler emblem. Actually, I would love it if it were functional and not decorative.

It felt a bit 'nekked' back there sans an emblem:

After metal work, before emblem application

...back at ya bro.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but I need to take my deck badge off temporarily to stripe. 7UP can you tell me how to get it off?
