Clear coating stock vinyl decals
Hello folks:
I've got a 2014 GT/CS and I love the decals that come with it and would like to preserve them. I haven't been able to find any particular guidance about the factory vinyl and was wondering:
Thanks for the input!

- Should I clear coat them for long term protection?
- Should I break down and just have them removed and painted on
Thanks for the input!

We have Vinyl Stripes on both our Mustangs. If taken care of they last for many years. Plus you have the flexibilty to remove them. It's expensive to have them painted on and clear coated. You could have Vinyl stripes put on a few times for the cost of painted. Plus I don't put wax on the stripes. But, you know it's up to you in the end. These stripes have been on our cars for over 7 years.

My stripes are painted vinyl. It's expensive, but you can get any color you want. That's why I have (correct) Guardsman Blue stripes instead of the usual stripe colors you see on late-model cars.
Vinyl is fine if you're not sure you're gonna like a color or want to get away less expensively, but nothing beats the look of a well applied painted/clear-coated set of stripes.
