Default Ditch the Pedestal

One of my requirements when looking for my car was that it had to have a spoiler and hood scoop and i bought one that had both.
Looking at my car the other day,now I am not so sure about the pedestal spoiler any more.I have been thinking that a ducktail spoiler like the one from Cervini's would accent the lines of the car better.
Has anyone here changed one out and if so how hard would it be to make the swap?

DO IT. I was in the same boat as you two. When I bought mine, I couldn't imagine ever changing from the stock pedestal.

Then I bought a GT500 spoiler and realized what I had been missing.

I dunno, I like the spoiler on mine now (I guess it is more of a ducktail one?). But the new 2010+ pedestals have always caught my eye.

I'd imagine a swap would be fairly simple, remove the old one, and make sure you get a new one with similar/exact same bolt holes (unless you want to drill new ones). I'm sure ford keeps the same bolt patterns for all their new spoilers, but if not you could get a ducktail that attaches with 3M. I believe the spoiler store (.com) has several choices.

Someone who has done this should chime in, I know several others who looked into this as well. I was going to switch from the pedestal on my 2010 GT to the GT500 style but read somewhere here that the pedestal has additional holes drilled in the trunk lid that are not covered by any of the other spoilers. Would entail some bodywork to fill in the holes and paint. Bummed me out and stopped me from switching.

Agreed! I heard this also, but wanted to switch the pedestal spoiler off my Cali special to a gt500 spoiler. Not crazy about the pedestal spoiler, but I dont want 2 holes in my trunk or have to fill and paint the whole trunklid

Perhaps swap trunk lids with someone who has the factory spoiler who's wanting the pedestal spoiler? Need someone with same car color with or without the satalite antenna mounted on the trunk lid. Local trade of course.

When I had my 2011 V6 BORLA ATAKs for sale on the forums, I thought about going up to 11 V6 stangs in parking lots and putting an ad on their window for them to see when they come back to their car.

The stock spoiler and the GT500 style spoiler only have 4 bolts that hold the spoiler to the trunk also 3m tape. The pedestal has a total of 8 bolts so i removed to install a gt500 spoiler or stock looking spoiler 4 holes in the trunk lid would need to be filled and painted.

I hope this helps.
