I bought, what I thought, is a 2012 premium leather steering wheel, but I received a 2013 one (check out the photo), with a d-pad and host of other buttons. I tried googling whether 2013 can be installed in a 2012 so that cruise control works (without modifications), but I couldn’t find any conclusive info.

Can anyone confirm whether 2013 wheel would work in a 2012 without any modifications?

You need to realize that you may be the first one to have a 2013 steering wheel swapped in a 2012. The only way to find out is for you to be the test mule on this one. Just give it a try and see if it works or not and post your results on here for future reference. Good luck!

+1 I have no idea, but that's pretty sweet. Didn't realize they had a D pad in the new ones. Maybe retrofit a ps3 into your gauge cluster? lol

I just saw a posting for 2013 leather wheel on eBay which mentions that "a plug" is needed for cruise control to work in 2010-2012 Mustangs. I'll try to figure out what exact kind of plug is needed and where to purchase it.

Update: I decided to return the 2013 steering wheel because, at the time, I thought it's not possible to have cruise control working in a 2012 car. Now, it seems cruise control might work if wiring from 2012 wheel is "implanted" in 2013 wheel.

Just wanted to check if anyone has done this since I last asked about it?
