I have this same problem. At first I assumed I was hitting my thumbnail against the button, but I made sure to start pressing with the pad instead of the tip of my thumb and the problem has started on two other buttons since. I may try to get the dealership to fix this under warranty.

Yeah I was gonna say that it's not just a Ford problem, some Chevys I drive for work have the same problem.

Are the replacement buttons any better than the originals?

I have a 2010 and had some chipping when I bought it at 30k miles. It does look like crap, and I intend on getting them replaced soon.

Hello members,

I recommend you have your vehicles diagnosed at your Ford dealer. Your Service Manager is in the best position to look into this for you. He can check into any assistance, Recalls, or Customer Satisfaction Programs that may apply to your vehicle. Let me know the outcome.

Anyone with the cruise or audio buttons peeling, and it is not under warranty,if you want to replace them, it really is easy, I just bought both sides from a Ford dealer, and had them installed in under 20 minutes, and that included disabling the air bag, (as a precaution), and disconnecting and reconnecting the battery
