Default 05-09 Roush Hood Scoop on a 2010-12

Anyone tried this? I like the look of the smaller scoop, plus I can get a great deal on it..... but don't know if the bottom of it will mate evenly with my hood.

Is this functional or just cosmetic. It looks like it would just cause added drag??? If its functional then at least it would serve a purpose.

It isn't fuctional. But MMD makes a small scoop at www.americanmuscle.com .

http://www.americanmuscle.com/painte...arts-1011.html .

There are a few there to choose from. Me personally, if you watch the American Muscle video on their Bolt On Series, "Appearance Package", the scoop just looks out of place.

Post some pics if you decide to do it.

That size scoop was a OEM option on the 05-09 models, plus I saw a 2012 just like mine with a flat black scoop the same size and I thought it looked good. At the price I'm more worried about how it will fit than how it will look. (I don't intend on drilling the hood to screw-mount it -- just use the 3m tape.)

I had that scoop on my 2005. If it fits, I'm sure it will look just fine on a 2012.

But I will say this: I used tape AND bolted it down. Within just a few months, it was lifting up and water was getting under the tape. Of course it didn't come off because it was bolted down... but without the screws, there is no doubt in my mind that tape alone won't hold it very well.

Thanks, that's what I needed to know. I'm still on the fence on it, but I thought I might get it and try it out just taped down at first to see if I want it long term or not.

That's the way to go, try it with just tape first to test fitment and decide if you like the look. If you end up loving it and keep it... then bolt it down.

My only concern is if it is "tapered" at the bottom to match the curvature of the 05-09 hood, and won't match the curvature of the 2012 hood. (Not that there's much curvature at that specific location, but....)
