Here is a hint for removal of the under hood insulation. The quarter sized pins can be pulled out, but be careful you don't damage the insulation. So here is the advise-> Use a soup spoon to get under the lip of the black plastic pins. Then get your finger under the other side of the pin, so one side is your finger, and the other is the soup spoon. Then just wiggle the pin until it comes out. I think there are 11 of them...
I found the nut on the rear of each vent can be loosened with a 9mm wrench. Next, you have clips on the vents. Just gently squeeze each clip one at a time as you gently push the vent up and out of the hood.
I did this procedure yesterday, and I used "Plasti-Dip" spray, matte black, just in the event I didn't like the look. However, I do like the look of the black vent, and it's going to stay its new matte black color.
