Default Best CAI/Tune combo for '10 GT

I'm trying to find the best CAI/tuner for my boyfriend's car. I hear JLT CAI is the best and SCT tune by bama are best but I can't find a good JLT CAI on American muscle. There aren't a whole lot of choices when it comes to the '10 GT. What makes this even harder is I'm trying to keep it a secret so it's a big surprise for him on his birthday. Any advice would be much appreciated.

The 2010 Mustang GT's have a very free flowing CAI from the factory. For a bolt-on 3v 4.6L engine, it's plenty sufficient. You honestly won't see too significant of gains with a an aftermarket CAI at that power level.

I'd stick with a tuner with Bama's custom tunes. If you're still looking for a little more bump in power, you could look into aftermarket exhaust mid-pipes.

Hope this helps! Shoot me a PM if there's anything else I can help you with.

I dont think thats entirely true Shane? The cai for the 2010 was improved, an extra 15hp if I recall, but its not as good as a new cai and tune. My jlt with a bama tune was one of my better mods, greatly improved throttle response and much better sound. I noticed power improvements also, but not sure how much. Were you strictly talking about hp?

Steeda CAI looks the best, but made my car act like it was sputtering. Tried tunes from BAMA and Steeda, neither worked. Turned out it was the CAI. For some reason the car didn't like it. Now I have the AirRaid CAI with Steeda tune, but I don't think the Steeda tune seems to be as good as the BAMA.

I put a roush CAI on my 10 GT and noticed very little if any change

However upgrading from stock to the pypes violators IMO made a huge difference both in sound and power

Tommyc,

There is a difference with an aftermarket CAI and tune on a 2010 3v GT for sure. Although, a lot of the difference is with the custom tune. As the factory 2010 intake is much better than the 05-09 GT intake. Of course, as you modify the car more. The more you'll see an aftermarket intake shine on a 2010 GT.

Hope this clarifies things!
