Default Bent 2 rims... Had to buy new wheels...

Soooo... I had the OE rims and was accepting of the fact that SWMBO didn't see the sense in buying new rims just because they looked different...

(Un)Fortunately, I developed a vibration one day and took my car to Discount Tire to get balanced and rotated (bought my replacement tires there). They found that 2 of the 4 rims were bent... Priced out a new set while there and decided I could do better with some research...

Went home and broke the news to the wife and that I had to get 2 new rims... Ended up getting the AMR 18x8 rims in silver and sooooo glad I did. My hats off to AM for offering such an amazing product at an amazing price with free, SUPER FAST shipping.

Here's a pic to share. I just had to gloat (haha).

Don't you hate when that happens?

Good look!

How wide a tire will those 8" rims take?

Thanks Ticopowell... I actually replaced the tires when I had 37k miles on the odometer because the OE tires were worn out... but I replaced them with another set of the Pirelli PZero Nero (235/50-ZR18)... They just moved the tires from the bent rims to the new AMR rims, albeit with almost 18k miles already on the tires... haha...

Hope that answers your question.

Exactly what I wanted to know, thanks!
btw 37k on the stock tires seems pretty good to me, got 35k out of my first set of the zero nero's, didn't like them enough to buy them again though.

Unfortunately, I didn't do any prior research before ordering my new wheels... I just got a wheel that was the same size as the bent OE wheel because I was transferring the tires from the bent rims to the new ones...

However, doing a quick cursory search because your question peaked my interest, I found on more than one site where people claiming the widest tire on an 8" rim is 275, but depends on the tire manufacturer and sidewall height. One issue that was mentioned more than once was that at 275, the tire's sidewall may have a bulging appearance from being mounted on such a narrow wheel size and not the ideal situation if drifting is your thing or lots of cornering at speed... Not my personal experience nor first hand knowledge, so do your own due diligence in research if you planned on going with a wider tire on your rims.

It does depend on the tire, but with tires that fit our mustangs a 255 is about the biggest you can go, but check the tire's website to make sure if you have a tire you want. most 275's that fit our cars will go as small as a 9" rim, some a 9.5"
