Default How do you know if your convertible top is vinyl or cloth?

I want to use a Ragg Topp protectorant on my 2012 Mustang, that I bought in February. The Window sticker says the top is vinyl, but water doesn't bead up on it. Is there an easy way to make sure it is vinyl?
This is how it looked right after putting water on it.

I'm not sure how to answer that. Vinyl is, well, vinyl. Fabric is like a fabric.

Most products that are made of vinyl are flat. This has texture similar to fabric. I am pretty sure they are hundreds of thousands of tiny extrusions. My window sticker says it's vinyl, so I am sure it is, but I would like to know a definitive test before putting protectorant on it.

You should be able to feel the difference.

If the window sticker says vinyl then it should be safe to assume its vinyl, unless you have a reason to believe it was replaced.

I saw an older Mustang convertible for sale. It had a cloth top, and the difference was obvious. It looked like cloth!
Looking forward to washing and treating my vinyl if Winter ever ends.

I believe in 2013 the standard is vinyl and at least the GT Premium package bumps it to cloth. Either way if its cloth it would show in the sticker as an option even of part of a package... plus that looks like vinyl. If you had cloth, you wouldn't wonder.

going to sound odd but, if you run your fingers across it real fast and it makes that sound that's kinda like scratching a record, its vinyl

I cleaned and treated my wife's top with Ragg Topp. Used the horsehair brush that came with the kit, and it worked well. The top went from Brown to Black which you can see in the picture below. Overspray came off easily with a microfiber.
