these laws got passed because in many smaller cities and towns, the people who owned car dealerships were among the wealthiest. and they could buy influence from their state legislators.

all of the domestic automakers offer a build-to-order program, but it still has to go through a dealer.

However, we are talking about state laws which are regulating inter state commerce which is a function of the federal government. If I'm right then they would be easily over turned in federal court. I suspect the reason that has never happened is that the current system still benefits the manufacturers.

It would be interesting to see how dealerships would handle having those laws over turned. For example: without those laws companies like Amazon and Wal-Mart could easily enter the market. They're better at logistics than the dealers and would likely trounce them in the initial sale. However, there is a lot that goes on after the car has been sold where the dealers could play. And I'm sure there is other stuff in that world I've not considered or imagined.

IT's also probably a mute topic: self driving cars will kills this stuff off over the next 20 years. Why own a car when you can just order up an self-driving Uber when you have to go somewhere?

Getting my 2017 GT350 through Ford's Military Sales. There was 12 of us selected this year for this awesome opportunity through Ford to purchase a GT350. I should be picking mine up in February 2017.

Now that the 2017 are coming out, it seems many dealers are more motivated to move 2016's. I wish everyone good luck.
