Shelby GT350 Honored as a 2016 Car of the Year, But Should It Be?
I’m sure most here won’t have a problem letting me know if I’m being a little over-dramatic here. But should a vehicle that undergoes a major recall actually be honored as a car of the year?

Car and Driver is not Consumer Reports.
You have to look at the purpose of the award.

For Consumer Reports, we define the "best" car as the one that excels in our extensive tests, as well as shines for reliability, safety, and owner satisfaction.
This was a quote from consumer reports on the new 2016 Miata...not very inspiring....
"Shifting the delightfully-accurate six-speed manual shifter is a joy; we'd skip the optional automatic, though it works fine."
So to answer your question, Yes, you are over-reacting. Almost every-single car that Car and Driver has listed for 2016 has some type of recall or issue. That's not the purpose of their award.
If you want reliability ratings/awards, you have to look at Consumer reports or better yet, JD Power. You want something that would inspire you to buy a new car, Car and Driver or Motortrend....

Based on what I know about the GT 350 performance on a track I'd say... Yes! If you tried to build a car with this kind of track performance yourself you'd spend a lot more than a GT 350 costs! That's pretty much true of just a simple GT too! "Bang for the Buck" all new Mustangs beat the Hell out of any other performance car! I suspect the new Mustangs are hurting the sales of entry level European Super Cars even with some of the costs of going to the right hand drive. I've build Chevies for 40 years... but fell in love with Mustangs in '08!
