camshaft dowel pin
I am installing the timing set on my 351 and was wondering (1) where can i get a dowel pin for the camshaft to gear (2) Do i need to install the fuel pump eccentric if i am going efi, does the eccentric have any other purpose. or can i just use the dowel pin and a bolt/washer? any help appreciated.

RE: camshaft dowel pin
EFI has no use for the eccentric.
If you don't have an old stock cam laying around (hopefully with the dowel still in it), then you will have to call around for one.
I have been able to get one from a local machine shop before, and the guy didn't charge for it.
He had a big box full of them.

RE: camshaft dowel pin
so the dowel pin doesnt come through the gear on the cam? what keeps it firm against the cam and the gear if there is a hole in the cam sprocket? I dont have a lot of the hardware that i need. so i am trying to slowly piece it together.

RE: camshaft dowel pin
I have a cloyes double roller timing set for a 351w and i have the original dowel pin now. What is the easiest way to go about doing this? How do i know if the dowel is long enough? Do i just tap the dowel into the camshaft and put the cam sprocket on with a washer on the cam bolt and call it good?
