Default automatic transmission fluid

Hello,
I have a 2005 4.0 Mustang with auto transmission.
The owners manual does not address how to check and fill the auto transmission.
I need to replace fluid that was mistakenly drained from the transmission pan.
Please advise me how tocheck and fill the auto transmission.
Thank You

Usually, you check the trans fluid with the vehicle on a level surface, running in (P)ark or (N)eutral. It also should be at full operating temp also. And usually its filled through the dipstick tube. It might even say something along the lines of "CHECK IDLING IN PARK OR NEUTRAL" right on the dipstick.

I'm familiar with the regular way to check and fill......
Unfortunately, they have eliminated the dipstick in the 2005 model.

haha your outta luck buddy your gonna have to have the car towed to a ford dealer and have them put in fluid with their little tool that they use

you could always get the new pan from b a m a which is 4 inches deeper and has a dipstick

From what I understand... this is a closed transmission. Theoretically.. it does not need to be checked.. so no dip stick. You need special equipment to fill this transmission. You'll have to take/tow it to the dealer

This is exactly what BMW did in their mid/late 90's 7 series. They made the trans non servicable. Then they had a run of trans failures. They updated it with a new trans pan that had a provision to to fill it from the bottom. But it was a HUGE design blunder (note how much late 90's 7series are reselling for, mind you they retailed for 70K brand new). Now all of their trannies are servicable. Ford is gonna have to learn the hard way. Dumbasses.

Unbelievable, no tranny dipstick. I saw that in the owners manual a couple nights after I got the car.It says this transmission does not consume fluid. It's no doubt a Ford money making gimmick for when the warranty expires. See a drop of fluid on the driveway, take it to the dealer.

Well, according the owner's manual (Pg 223 in mine, if your's is the same), "...if the transmission slips or shifts slowly, or if you notice some sign of fluid leakage."
