Default 200 ci 6 cylinder head bolts

pulling the head off to get it rebuilt and want to get new head bolts,,,,ford six has an ARP set but they seem to be the only place that has'em,,,but 75.00.. don't know, just seems when I see the price for a set for a 289, that it's a little high,,try'd clifford performance, jegs, arp, a bunch of mustang web sites and no one seems to sell bolts for a 170,200,250 ci engine and thought /ideas ? thanks for the help/info

yes mike does sell very good stuff and the ARP arent head bolts they are studs and they will hold the head in place better and are great if you plan on any performance changes especially if you decide to go with a really high compression ratio or forced induction

when i was rebuilding my motor i snapped one of the head bolts and was lucky cause there was a shop near by that only sold bolts and they had everykind you can think of so we went gave him one of the other bolts he matched it up and i walked out with a new grade 8 bolt for only a couple of bucks i think

thanks for the help,,I just want to try and stay factory,,but dealing with "40" year old bolts worries me,,thought that he was selling bolts and not studs,,,,,,will that make torque spec's differnet or anything?

was I right about the 170 and 250 ci head bolts being the same size? and do you think a hardware store would have grade 8's or 10's to do the job,, I checked with a local bolt shop and they said they don't carry automotive stuff, so I'm kinda assuming the grade 8's and 10's would work

once again thanks for the help/onfo

Do not get the bolts at a hardware store!! Try any good auto pats place like NAPA or Carquest.

Someone gave me this company's info for ordering quality nuts, bolts and fasteners for our Mustangs. Might give them a try.
