Default What are symptoms of bad PCV or vaccum leak

As stated, I wondering what the symptoms of a bad PCV or vaccuum leak are? I just rolled into work with my 96 beater escort and when i put it in park the RPM's jump to just under 2k....So i figured I would check with you guys...thanks in advance

Spuratic idle, stalling at idle, hesitation when accelerating, hard brake pedal if vacuum assisted, the car may shake at an idle also. hard starting. these all depend on the severity of the vacuum leak.

If you were to put money on why my idle is pinned @ just under 2k, what would you say?

take out you pcv valve, shake it if it rattles its good if it doesnt its bad. once thats solved move to your next thought.......vaccum leak

Follow the pvc hose to the top of the intake....and the hole for the vaccum leak ,,you will find...

Yeah,,I've replace a few intake gaskets also ,,around the no.1 or no 4 cyclinder(leaking vaccum)...your right could be several things..
