Default freeze plugs for 3.8

I cant find it anywhere; what size freeze plugs does a carbed 3.8(essex) need? Just got an 86 notch w/ a 3.8 in it and the guy had all water in the coolant system, of course its all frozen now. Its getting a 5.0, but until then it would be nice to have it running. Thanks

Most of the members here in the V6 section have newer FI 3.8 engines. Be patient, not many people are carbed so your awnser may take mor time.

ok well i don't know where the freeze plugs are at, but i searched online and found that o'reilly auto parts has them for anywhere from $0.69 - $2.00 it may be worth heading up to your local auto parts store and asking them. freeze plugs are not a common thing that is changed most people probably don't even know what they are so i would think you may be waiting awhile for an answer on this forum...

you could also try posting at

or
http://www.3.8mustang.com/forum/

sorry i couldn't locate them...but maybe i can point you toward some other resources

already did, the computers dont tell which size. there are 3 different sizes, all very close to eachother. i know where they are supposed to be on the motor, i just need to know which size so i can put the right ones on. they were only .68 a piece, 3 different size, motor needs 2.

i did buy all 6. theyre pretty far up there and its hard to tell which is correct. did a test fitting and they all seem to kinda work. out of coolant so couldnt really check if they held coolant. either way it will be a complete pain in the *** to put them on, fill it up w/ coolant, and see if it holds pressure/coolant. not only that but i'll possibly have to fill it up w/ coolant 3 times. no one knows what size the freeze plugs are for a FI essex 3.8?
