Default Stock Block HP rating?

I know that the stock internals are good up to 450-500hp, but how much HP can you get out of the stock block? and while I am asking, what about the stock 5speed? thanks. I have big plans brewing.

Stock block can be pushed to over 800 HP without problems.

What transmission are you talking about? Both the manual and the automatic have five gears. I am assuming you are talking about the manual, which is rated at 380 ft-lb of torque. Do a forum search and you can find all kinds of info about replacement transmissions. I recall posting in three threads just last week about that very topic.

Sean Hyland from Canada told me 700-800HP is the safe limit of our blocks.Sean is very well known for his motors! My buddy here in S.FLA just had a motor built by him for his S197 that will handle 1500HP with no problems.
