okay, I was wondering what the difference is between a regular 351 winsor 4-barrel and a 351 winsor HO 4-barrel? What would I have to do to convert my 1970 351 Winsor 4-barrel into a 351 winsor HO? Thank-you for the help.

As far as the internals there is no difference. Your 70 model will actually have more compression and better camshaft.

Ford never made a 351W HO. Are you refering to the 351 Cleveland H.O.?
There is a big differance between the Windsor engine and the Cleveland blocks.
The 351W is basically a supped up version of the 302.

Ford did make a so-called 351w HO. It went in police cars in the mid to late 80's. It wa labeled this way to give the impression that it offered more power than the regular production 351w in civilian passenger cars.

The 351 HO engine was not availabe in 1970. It was only in the mustang during 1972.

While most enthusiasts gloat over the awesome 11.7 compression ratio of the '71, they forget it would be almost impossible to drive one of these cars daily on pump gas. With the lower compression of the '72 model year, daily driving is much improved. Although the 3:91 gears yield to very poor mileage, I drive my H.O. daily. Before the engine was rebuilt in March, it averaged 13 MPG on a 400 mile round trip. Not bad for 3500 to 4000 RPM most of the time.

351 w HO's were available from 1984 thru 1990 in ford trucks, vans and bronco's.

yeap ... i have a 351 W HO motor in my 85 f250
the only difference in them is that they have a little higher compression, and a holley 4 barrel.
instead of just having 160 HP, they have 210 HP
