Its pretty cool seeing ford step up to plate to match the numbers chevy is putting down. I have a 10' and its an awesome car and i plan on supercharging it in the near future. i'm sure if I bought 2011 5.0 i would do the same thing supercharge it. All in all most of us crave more power than just stock power. So just buy it mod it and love it.

Maybe I can talk my wife in letting me buy her a 2011 GT

Wouldn't you share most of your drivetrain/suspension aftermarket with the 05-09s and exterior/interior with the 2010+?

correct the 4.6 in the '10 is virtually the same as teh '05 - '09 engine. mods for the '10 will be plentiful and inexpensive very soon

so it looks like the 5.0 mustang will be true now... question is the power... I guess 400hp will most likely be about right. As much as I love my 2010 kind of stinks for us owners who will only have the best GT mustang for a couple more months. But I guess everything nowadays changes so quickly you only have the best for a couple months before something better comes out.

Matter of fact, the V8 in the '10 is IDENTICAL to the V8's in the 05-09s with the exception of the tune. Other than some of the intakes for the '05-'09s not being an exact fit in a '10, mod away.

You haven't had your car very long have you? I thought this way when I first got the car and for a few months after. But that changed.

Eventually, you'll get used to your current power level and it won't feel as awesome as it once did. Then you'll want to bump it up some. Get used to that. And so on...

The feeling of accelerating faster and faster is awesome and the problem is, no matter where you are, eventually you'll get used to it and need more to continue this wonderful feeling/experience regardless of the speed limits on the street.

The other issue is speed = money. Lots of it. I don't even like to think of how many more thousands I'd still have it if was not for wanting to mod like a fiend. But, it's worth it really when this is your hobby and makes you happy.

Also, a Prius is more than enough for the street to so that would make a Mustang kind of pointless right?

This cements the deal for me. Power? Meh? Anyone can go fast in a straight line. The big news is they're adding in or offering as optional all the handling and braking bits from the regular GT, plus some Cobra stuff too.

The engine is all aluminum, so we're talking weight reduction with 300 HP. One engineer on Jalopnik said he expects the new V6 to best the current GT on a road course, and keep the new V8 car within it's sights.

Handling, braking, power with 30 mpg ... I am TOTALLY sold, and patting myself on the back for waiting.

Now that some of this stuff is becoming official, I'd like to point out how many 2010 buyers will be bothered by the fact that Ford didn't just do this all as one huge refresh. It's a dumb decision if you ask me. I'd be pissed if I had bought a 2010. I know some (like Wilkinda and others) have said they knew it was coming out and didn't care. I don't understand that, but it's cool. It's your opinion and I am happy you are pleased with your purchase. That is what matters. I still think that many uninformed buyers will be upset that they didn't get the whole package.
Bring on the 2011! I wonder what lease options there would be on the 2011 v6. Maybe I can lease one while saving for the 5.0....

I don't see what the big fuss is about. Sure an extra 100 hp will be an obvious advantage but we've been at a disadvantage of sorts anyway with a 4.6 and we have had fun being a strong underdog! Ford did the body refresh on que with the competition and now the new motors are ready too!
The complaint earlier about poor rolling acceleration is called "not being in the correct gear". If the one you're in isn't picking up and your doing less than 120... drop gears again!
JW for those of you old enough to remember... were people disapointed if they got the mustang the year before the old 5.0 came out?
