With synthetic I feel comfortable at every 5k and I will stick with that! In less than a year I have changed my oil 4x(just rolled 20000 miles)
Hey I know old habits are hard to break, but oil has come along way since the 70's, have faith. Its nice to see everyone extending there oil changes too

Hey , got 3400 miles on car ran a vehicle health report and here is what they sent.....hey worst case, Ford buys a new motor if I go by their recommendations...so I'm going by this.....less time spent under instead inside the car LOL.

NOTE: Scheduled Maintenance listed below is based on the factory maintenance guide, not on your vehicle's service history or actual maintenance performed.

Maintenance you should perform at: 10,000 miles:
Ford Motor Company highly recommends if you have not already done so, you should perform the following Scheduled Maintenance in another 6,554 miles: (These recommendations are not based on your actual service record.)

Your vehicle is equipped with an Intelligent Oil Life Monitor System (IOLM). Based on your driving conditions, the IOLM will display a message when you need an oil change. Message displays are: (1) Engine Oil - Change Soon, (2) Oil Change Required.

You'll get tons of variance in opinions here. I wish I had a nickle for every time this came up.

The days of 3,000 mile oil changes have gone unless you're still using dino oil. Blends are good for 6 months or 7500 miles and full syns are good for 1 year or 10,000 miles or more. However, those numbers should always be tempered by your driving style, environmental conditons, etc..

I was trained in oil analysis (not on combustion engines but the concept is the same and I picked the instructors brains on motor oil until they were about to run me out of the class) and have put over 1,250,000 miles on about 10 or more engines in my lifetime; about 1/2 of those running well beyond 200,000 miles. My last 2 tow vehicles used full syn with 8k-10k mile oil changes and both went over 200,000 miles with no compression or oil use issues.

Best thing is to educate yourself. Go to bobtheoilguy's website and LEARN.

Thumbs up

So, I'm reading through the thread here and I sez to myself, "self, let's go look at the oil section of the forum."

So I find this thread here : https://mustangforums.com/forum/oil-...ustang-gt.html

I read through it, check out all the links, and go right out and buy 6 quarts of Royal Purple 5w-30 and a wix-made carquest filter. (btw, this filter is the spitting image of the new fomoco 500 that came on the car from factory).

Here I was, buying nothing but mobil 1, running it in all my stuff, recommending it to others, and not even knowing it wasn't "really" synthetic.

Well, that's marketing for you. What a sucker I is.

Anyways, to answer the OP, yes, I do run full synthetic... NOW.
