It will at least advance far enough to blow the head gasket........

BTW - 87 octane here is over the $4 a gallon mark.

Meh.. Here in my area it's equivalent to about 4.50$ a gallon and in some parts a LOT more expensive. 91 at the lowest right now 5.02$ a gallon for the low quality brands. Yes US gallons and not imperial gallons.

Keep in mind the national capital region of Canada has some of the lowest gas prices in the country...

Unfortunately I'm really busy this week. My calendar is more open next week. I know a pretty good pizza joint around where I work if you're interested. Just let me know which day is best and I'll block the time off.

If only Can and US weren't so damn huge. It would have been cool to do a sort of forum community meet. Kinda hard though when distances can be counted in many hundreds if not thousands of miles

Just FYI, in one of the other mustang forums Chris Rose from AM mentioned that they have revised versions of their tunes for our v6. I believe the changes are just tweaks, but you can still request them if you bought the upgrades for life. My tunes were dated from 11MAR11 and the rep said their tunes are newer than that. Chris also mentioned a hybrid street and race tune that gives you the lower end torque of the street tune and the peak power of the race tune. Waiting for all those to be emailed. Might have to hold off on my mpg tests for a bit and play with the new tunes!

Good info. I wish Bama had a good way to notify existing users with free upgrades on when they revise their tunes. RSS feed, twitter, something like that. Even if they are just slight tweaks, I think the interest is there for all of us who run 'em.

Yeah, I mentioned that to the Bama rep. He said that unless they are major changes, that they won't inform anybody. He said most of the time any changes made are to just smooth performance parameters out, but won't increase peak power or torque etc. They could just have a twitter account, and put out a short blurb. We could recommend that to Chris and see if they can support it. That's the kind of support that makes me buy more stuff from them.

It looks like the difference in price between 87 and 93 is more like 20 cents, so that makes the difference just over $12 over the course of a year. Plus the thing I didn't notice is that based on that mileage, 93 octane uses about 16 gallons less, which happens to be one tank of gas.

That hybrid tune sounds delicious. Just what the doctor ordered.

I received my 91P tune from Bama today. Just got done loading it and taking the car on a little test drive. Definitely more pep in the power band (mid-high rpms) than the 87P Tune. The car also idles smoother than either the 87 stock or 87P tune, not to mention sounding a little louder.

An Airraid CAI will be arriving next week. Looking forward to putting it on and loading the new tune to compare with the stock intake.

The car is becoming more & more fun to drive......I just need to remember that I already have one ticket since I bought the car in December....

Yes, I mentioned the car sounds a little louder, more aggressive sounding on the Hwy would be more exact.

How would you describe the sound of the 3.7L w/ the 93P tune?

My wife thinks I transplanted a v8 into the car. We were on a back road behind a slow truck and I had an opening to punch it. She was like "Why doesn't Ford make these like this from the factory?" She has also had a chance to drive it and says she likes how smooth the power band is and feels like it's easier to shift.

Received my Airraid CAI this afternoon. I went ahead and took my time & installed it in about an hour. The stock airbox came out (2 pieces) in about 5-10 minutes. The intake tube on the CAI fits pretty tight but it all went together with a little care & patience. What I like about the Airraid is the connection to the snorkel in the grill, with a mating piece that fits inside the grill snorkel. I also like the seal to the hood which appears to work well. Basically the entire Airraid filter box fits and looks like it could be stock. All the rest of the pieces that connect into the intake tube went together in a snap.

I then loaded the stock tune to ensure I didn't get any error codes, which was the case. The car seemed to idle just fine, and produced that signature suction when I hit the accelerator.

Bama emailed my new CAI tunes on Saturday, now that is great service! I was wondering if the CAI tunes would arrive before the CAI & they did! Click the image to open in full size.

Once the 91P was loaded I took the car out for a spin. The car now sounds much more throaty, something that is readily apparent with the Bassai Axlebacks. I had been running the stock airbox with a 91P tune & the car definitely had more pep. Now the accelerator response is even better & I can tell the car will get better mileage simply because I don't have to give the car as much gas for cruising speed.

Its early in the final review phase, but I'd say its pretty obvious a CAI/Tune gives the best results if you want something other than the stock airbox/tune.
