Yeah, it's liveable for sure. Ratio wise, 1st now kind of reminds me of an '02 BMW I had. With the 2.73, 1st was actually kind of a fun gear because you get get going so fast before shifting. 2nd being not as fun because it just couldn't pull. With the 3.55, its completely changed that feeling. Its also interesting to feel how much better it climbs through each gear. Such a difference. For cruising, 65mph is at about 2,000 RPM, so it doesn't feel too out of the ordinary if you aren't cruising faster than that. Sometimes the 2.73 felt like it was idling while cruising at that speed. Which was great for a more relaxed feel, but terrible if you had to accelerate. Overall, great move so far. Just swapping the gear fluid in a couple of days to finish off the break in period. ...I'll report back more on my MPG's when I have a better sampling.

thanks for the reply. I'll be reporting back as well when mine are installed. They shipped from American Muscle today so they should be here tomorrow or so. Might get the install done this week if thats the case.

The outfit I used ("Randy's Ring and Pinion" - a big shop outside of Seattle), said that they've found even the FRPP gears can whine a bit (yes, my part number did have an "M" in it), but they've found that by tweaking the backlash just a bit and using top quality fluid, that they can minimize it. I've heard no high pitched whining or anything. I was impressed and relieved to know I was in good hands, and that I wasn't crazy enough to try it myself. Also, they couldn't stress enough the 500 mile break in period, along with chaning out the fluid afterward. These guys do nothing bug differential work, so I took their word for it.

I doubt you will notice a BIG difference with such a little of a gear change.
I would have gone with 3.73's or 4.10's.

I would REALLY consider returning them unopened and going with a beefier change my friend.
You will NOT regret it.

Edit: I just saw you had 2.73's. I thought you were in the 3's in gearing for some reason
You WILL notice a difference in that case going from 2.73s!

yeha i know all my car club buddies keep saying why 3.55's lol.. no one understands yet the the 2011 tranny is geared much different the previous s197's and that 3.55's in the new 3.73s or even 4.10s ...

2.73's to 3.55's is more of a change then 3.31's to 4.10s which previous s197's are used to.

cant wait to see these crazy gains

I don't know that you don't notice changes especially coming from 2.73s. I could tell the difference just between the 2.73s and my 3.31s. I will eventually upgrade to 3.73s, but I guess I'm also going to have to do the DS too. I can do one or the other right now, but will wait until I have the cash to do them together.
